    Description

Travis County is looking for volunteers to assist food pantries located around the Austin area. As a food pantry volunteer, you can ensure donated food is safely processed and efficiently distributed to individuals and families facing food insecurity.

As a sorting and stocking volunteer, you will be unloading food deliveries, inspecting donated items for quality, damage and expiration dates, sort and organize donations and assemble food boxes for distribution.

Volunteers assisting with client services and distribution will greet and check clients in, assist clients as they select food items, help clients with mobility issues with shopping and loading food items and can treat all clients in a respectful manner while maintaining confidentiality.

The final area where volunteers are needed is with general maintenance. Duties include maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the pantry, break down boxes and help set up and break down distribution areas before and after operating hours.

Locations where volunteers are needed are Del Valle, Manor, Jonestown, Oak Hill, Pflugerville and Central Austin.

Potential volunteers should be able to commit to a schedule (based on your availability), work as a team member, lift up to 40 lbs., maintain client confidentiality and complete a general training as well as a food handler certification. Contact us to find out more.
