    We are seeking volunteers interested in ongoing involvement with the rescue. Many volunteers serve weekly or monthly, but we are happy to work with your schedule and welcome those who can commit to special projects, events, or seasonal support.

    Volunteers must attend orientation before beginning regular shifts. Some roles require outdoor work, lifting supplies, and working around animals, hay, and bedding. Volunteers under 18 require parent/guardian approval.

    Description

    Animal Care Volunteer

    Fairytale Farm Rescue & Sanctuary(located in Colfax, NC) provides lifelong care for rescued rabbits and special-needs farm animals. Many of our outdoor residents have physical disabilities, medical conditions, or unique care requirements and depend on dedicated volunteers to help them thrive.

    Animal Care Volunteers assist with feeding, watering, cleaning habitats, enrichment activities, and helping ensure our animals receive the compassionate care they deserve.

    Responsibilities:

    • Feed and water rabbits and farm animals
    • Clean enclosures and living spaces
    • Monitor animal health and behavior
    • Assist with enrichment and socialization
    • Support daily farm operations
    • Learn specialized care routines for animals with disabilities and special needs

    Animals You May Work With:

    • Rescue rabbits
    • Goats
    • Sheep
    • Possible other small rescued animals

    Ideal Volunteer:

    • Passionate about animal welfare
    • Dependable and compassionate
    • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
    • Willing to learn specialized care techniques
    • No prior animal experience required

    Time Commitment:

    Flexible shifts available.
