End of Life Doulas - Provide Comfort & Companionship to Hospice Patients & Families

End of Life Doulas provide a supportive environment encompassing emotional, spiritual, and practical care. This is the perfect opportunity to join a team of compassionate volunteers sharing your heart, time and talents to comfort hospice patients and their families. You will complete free hospice training and orientation to help you feel confident and comfortable in home and facility settings.

End of Life Doulas protect the sacred space of dying through the gift of intentional presence. To accomplish this, the end-of-life doula may:

    • Provide companionship, comfort, and guidance
    • Offer a listening ear
    • Provide comfort measures
    • Sit vigil
    • Be a calming presence
    • Provide respite for caregivers
    • Encourage reminiscing and family rituals such as prayer, singing and reading
    • Explore the meaning of the patient's life and legacy
