Waste to Wonder: Volunteer Wonder Delivery Driver

Bridges is excited to launch a new way for volunteers to engage with us! Our new volunteer program, Waste to Wonder, will transform the paper waste caused by shredding documents into new paper that will be donated to participating HCPSS art classrooms! Paper-making will be every first Saturday of the month.

This program is a wonderful full circle moment of the upcycled paper from supporting HCPSS families going into HCPSS art classrooms. That way we are reducing the environmental impact of our programs, reducing the costs of supplies for some HCPSS art projects, and preventing unneeded landfill waste (shredded paper cannot be processed by most recycling facilities).

Volunteers will be delivering upcycled paper donations to participating Howard County Public Schools each month. We ask that Volunteer Wonder Delivery Drivers commit to at least 5 months (equal to 5 total delivery runs) because a background check is required. Each background check cost comes out of our organization's budget, so it helps to have any volunteers who needed a background check stay on as recurring volunteers.
