    Description

Volunteer Executive Strategy & Growth Assistant (Virtual)

    About the Role

Outdoor Life Leadership is seeking a Volunteer Executive Strategy & Growth Assistant to support our Volunteer Executive Director & Chief Growth Officer.

    Volunteer | Part-Time | 5–8 Hours Per Week | 6–12 Months

    About Outdoor Life Leadership

Outdoor Life Leadership is a growing, volunteer-led nonprofit focused on helping young people and families build outdoor survival, safety, leadership, and practical life skills.

Our tagline is: Making outdoor survival and safety possible.

We are in the startup stage and are building the systems, partnerships, funding, and leadership needed to grow our impact.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants hands-on experience supporting nonprofit leadership, strategy, growth, partnerships, and organizational development.

You will help keep important volunteer duties organized and moving forward. You will volunteer closely with the Executive Director in a flexible, remote setting.

This is an unpaid volunteer position. We do not provide a stipend.

    Key Responsibilities

The role has a small and focused volunteer load.

      • Help track executive action items and deadlines.
      • Research potential grants, donors, sponsors, and partners.
      • Help maintain the organization's growth and partnership pipeline.
      • Prepare simple meeting notes, research summaries, and follow-up items.
      • Help organize board and leadership materials.
      • Track progress on key organizational goals.
      • Complete other short research and coordination tasks as needed.

    What You Will Gain

      • Direct experience supporting nonprofit executive leadership.
      • Experience with nonprofit strategy and organizational growth.
      • Exposure to fundraising and partnership development.
      • Experience with board and leadership support.
      • Practical experience in a growing nonprofit.
      • Professional reference or LinkedIn recommendation upon successful completion.

    Who We Are Looking For

You do not need to be an experienced nonprofit professional.

We are looking for someone who is:

      • Organized and dependable.
      • A strong communicator.
      • Comfortable doing basic online research.
      • Good at following through on tasks.
      • Comfortable volunteering independently.
      • Willing to learn.
      • Comfortable using Google Workspace and online tools.
      • Interested in nonprofit leadership, business, community volunteering, fundraising, or project support.

Students, recent graduates, working professionals, and experienced volunteers are welcome to apply.

    Time Commitment

      • 5–8 hours per week
      • Flexible schedule
      • Remote
      • 6–12 month commitment
      • Primarily weekdays, with occasional evening or weekend communication
      • United States residents only

    How You Will Volunteer

You will volunteer directly with the Volunteer Executive Director & Chief Growth Officer.

Most volunteer duties can be completed independently. A short weekly check-in will help set priorities, review progress, and identify next steps.

We want this role to be manageable for a volunteer while still providing meaningful experience.

    Impact

Your volunteer duties will help an experienced executive leader spend more time on strategy, fundraising, partnerships, board development, and organizational growth.

Your support will help Outdoor Life Leadership build the structure needed to expand its mission and make outdoor survival and safety possible for more youth and families.

    Important Volunteer Note

This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity with a startup nonprofit. The role is designed for someone who wants to contribute meaningful skills while gaining practical experience in nonprofit leadership and organizational growth.

Applicants must reside in the United States.
