    Description

We are looking for volunteers to help run our project making free books available to organisations working with marginalised groups around the North-East

Description of opportunity General book-sorting and categorising, outreach to local organisations. Receiving visitors and helping them to find books. Keeping a tally of books coming in and going out. Repairing books. After a while, be capable of working without supervision so the BookSpace can be open for longer hours to allow more organisations to visit mornings or afternoons.

Skills and qualifications required Mainly an interest in books and in people - and the belief that neither are to be discarded. General office skills useful. Former library workers welcome. A knowledge of local organisations working with vulnerable groups would be really useful - but not essential.

Ability to communicate well with fellow-workers (also by phone or email where needed) and see yourself as part of a team is essential.

Car drivers useful but not essential. We are on 27 bus route from Gateshead Interchange. Travel costs reimbursed. (local, not international!!)
