    Description

Fruitslice is a growing, volunteer-run literary and arts organization. Our Art Department, led by brilliant designers, is expanding and we’re looking for a dedicated Project Manager to help build out this branch of our organization from the ground up.

As Project Manager for the Art Department, you’ll work closely with our Art Directors to strengthen collaboration, create sustainable workflows, and ensure this team has the structure and support it needs to thrive. Our Art Directors are visionaries in design, and we’re seeking someone who can help translate those big ideas into clear, actionable systems.

    Responsibilities

    • Audit current art-related workflows and collaboration practices, and identify bottlenecks.
    • Help define the ideal structure for the Art Department, including team roles and best practices.
    • Create clear, actionable steps to move from our current state to a more efficient, connected system.
    • Provide ongoing support and resources to Art Directors and their team.
    • Facilitate communication and collaboration across the department and with other teams.
    • Follow up regularly, offer suggestions, and keep projects moving forward.
    • Establish consistent practices, rules, and systems that make the creative process smoother.

    What We’re Looking For

    • A strong communicator who isn’t afraid to follow up, check in, and keep the team accountable.
    • Experience in project management, team building, or organizational development (especially in creative fields).
    • Comfortable collaborating with highly creative, right-brained thinkers and translating vision into structure.
    • A problem-solver who can identify challenges and propose workable solutions.
    • Strong people skills and the ability to build trust and foster a supportive, connected environment.

We ask for consistency and communication, not perfection or immediate action on every front.

    Why Join Us

    You’ll have the opportunity to:

    • Shape and grow a key branch of a dynamic arts organization.
    • Collaborate with talented designers and creative leaders.
    • Contribute to a mission-driven project that values creativity, community, and care.

This is a volunteer role. Priority is given to QTPOC individuals and people from other intersectional and historically marginalized communities. We recognize that unpaid creative work can be exploitative and we actively work to push back against that. We work to ensure that all roles at Fruitslice are collaborative, flexible, and nourishing. In addition to being part of a deeply passionate team where your voice will be genuinely valued, you’ll have access to professional development support, an active peer community, and internal mutual aid resources. We believe in resourcing each other however we can.

We can’t wait to meet you.
