About The J Healthcare Initiative The J Healthcare Initiative is a registered Canadian non-profit on a mission to prevent overdoses through community- and evidence-based initiatives that uplift youth and local communities. We build infrastructure for legal prescription access to regulated opioids and stimulants for individuals at risk of illicit drug poisoning, advocating for policies that treat healthcare as a universal right regardless of substance use status.

About the Role As a Medical Advisory Board Member, you will guide our evidence-based, community based overdose prevention programs and research strategies. You will provide strategic medical governance to ensure our initiatives remain clinically sound, compassionate, and aligned with the evolving safe-supply landscape across Canada and the U.S.

Key Responsibilities

• Clinical Governance & Program Design: Review existing harm-reduction programs, provide expert clinical guidance on substance use protocols, and assist in designing robust research methodologies.
• Funding & Research Oversight: Identify research grant mechanisms to study unregulated toxic drug supplies in Canada and the U.S.
• Advocacy & Representation: Serve as a clinical spokesperson, representing the organization at medical conferences, public health panels, and policy events.
• Strategic Strategy: Collaborate with leadership to design scalable interventions that mitigate drug poisoning risks.

Qualifications

• Education: MD, MD/PhD, Nurse Practitioner (NP/NP-PhD), or PharmD.
• Specialization: Board certification or specialized experience in Addiction Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Community/Street Medicine.
• Clinical Experience: Experience as an opioid prescriber is strongly preferred.
• Core Values: Deep alignment with harm-reduction philosophy and a passion for ending the toxic drug crisis.
• Assets: Lived or living experience with substance use is considered a strong asset.
