    Flexible Schedule and locations. We are in ten counties, but are focusing on Harrison, Jackson and Hancock counties, with a time commitment of 2 to 4 hours per week. Three-hour Orientation required. Training provided and ongoing.

    The SOFA volunteer should have an outgoing personality and enjoy working with seniors in a healthcare setting. This position may work alongside the marketing team and can be a lot of fun for the right volunteer. Ongoing training provided.

    Get off the SOFA and Make a Difference...Try Hospice Support Outreach/Facility Activity (SOFA) Volunteering!

    The Support Outreach and Facility Activity (SOFA) Volunteer fills a crucial need in helping to support activities and services for the patient and family. They assist marketing personnel with outreach and activities at assisted living facilities and long-term care centers (e.g., BINGO, Farmer’s Market, Musical Pool Noodles, etc.). These events are meant to engage residents in recreational activities and serve to support the Hospice program and residents in Hospice care. This position is perfect for a certified fitness trainer or yoga teacher feeling the need to give back. Working in a healthcare setting, there is strict adherence to confidentiality/HIPAA. Ongoing training is provided.

    Essential Functions/Skills:

    Ability to present a professional and upbeat demeanor with all community and facility interactions since the volunteer represents Traditions Health Hospice.

    Provide compassionate interactions with patient/family.

    Promote positive, supportive, respectful communication to patient/family and staff members.

    Be comfortable working in an environment which promotes respect for patient, privacy and property.

    Must be comfortable serving diverse groups and cultures.

    Must have an outgoing personality.

    Must be able to communicate with administrative and clinical staff.

    Must be able and comfortable serving diverse groups and cultures.

    • Expect a rigorous background application process (fingerprints required), physical, TB and drug test, and training required for healthcare settings (Vital Caring incurs costs for physical and testing).
