    Description

    Volunteer with Vulnerable Girls & Children in Tanzania (Safe House Project)

    Amazing Grace Widows and Orphans Tanzania (AGWOT) invites dedicated and compassionate volunteers to support our work with vulnerable girls, orphans, and children in Tanzania. This opportunity focuses on our Safe House Project, which provides protection, care, and empowerment for girls at risk, including survivors of trafficking and abuse.

    Volunteers will play an important role in supporting daily activities at the safe house and in the community.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide mentorship and emotional support to girls in the safe house
    • Assist with teaching, tutoring, and homework support for children
    • Support life skills training and empowerment activities (confidence building, hygiene, communication skills)
    • Participate in community outreach programs supporting widows and vulnerable families
    • Assist staff with organizing activities, workshops, and recreational programs
    • Contribute professional skills where possible (e.g., counseling, social work, healthcare, communications, fundraising)

    Qualifications:

    • Passion for working with vulnerable children and girls
    • Respectful, patient, and culturally sensitive
    • Willingness to learn and adapt to a new environment
    • Background in education, social work, psychology, health, or related fields is an added advantage (not required)
    • Good communication skills in English (basic level is acceptable)

    Additional Information:

    • Volunteers will work closely with local staff and community members
    • This is a meaningful, hands-on experience in a grassroots organization
    • Accommodation and meals are available (details can be shared after application)
    • A weekly contribution fee of $100 helps cover accommodation and meals

    Directions

    The project is located in Sinoni Ngarash Village, Engutoto Ward, Monduli District, Arusha Region, Tanzania, approximately 1 hours from Arusha Airport and about 3 hours from Kilimanjaro International Airport.

    Volunteers can travel to Arusha town by flight or bus, and from there arrange transport to the project site by taxi or local transport. Airport pickup and transfer to the project can also be arranged upon request.

    For safety and privacy reasons, detailed directions and exact meeting points will be shared with confirmed volunteers before arrival. Our team will provide full support to ensure a safe and smooth journey to the project location.

    Instructions:

    Volunteering with Amazing Grace Widows and Orphans Tanzania (AGWOT) offers a meaningful and enriching experience both personally and professionally.

    As a volunteer, you will:

    • Make a real impact by supporting vulnerable girls, children, and local communities
    • Gain hands-on experience in community development, education, and social support programs
    • Live and engage closely with the local community, offering a true cultural immersion experience
    • Learn basic Swahili language skills through daily interaction
    • Experience and participate in preparing local Tanzanian meals and traditional cooking
    • Learn about Maasai culture and traditions within the local community
    • Visit local open markets and experience everyday village life
    • Build cross-cultural understanding and lifelong connections

    Additionally:

    • The project is located near the main road with access to major routes leading to famous national parks such as Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and Tarangire National Park
    • Volunteers who are interested can arrange and book safari experiences during or after their placement (at their own cost)
