    Description

    Become a PeerForward College Coach!

Inspire the Next Generation: Volunteer as a College Coach with PeerForward!

PeerForward College Coaches prepare hundreds of high school seniors to navigate the college application process successfully. Our Peer Leaders’ college enrollment has ranged from 60%-80%, far surpassing the national average of 52% for students in high-poverty schools, according to the National Student Clearinghouse analysis.

At our dynamic, 4-day Summer Workshops held on college campuses, you'll have a real impact on the lives of youth through meaningful conversations, encouragement, and coaching sessions.

    College Coach (Remote)

College Coaches open the door to higher education opportunities students may have never considered. Work one-on-one virtually with 8 students in building a personalized, well-matched list of colleges, navigating admissions requirements, and identifying the next steps for their senior year.

    • Be able to read a student transcript and make subsequent collegiate recommendations in a positive choice-based framework
    • Have a healthy knowledge of local and national colleges and universities and college admissions requirements
    • Be comfortable/have familiarity with advising mid-tier students from under-resourced communities
    • Be comfortable/have familiarity with responding to emotionally intense situations
    • Be comfortable advising students virtually through Zoom Meetings
    • Be comfortable participating receiving and responding to feedback
    • Proficient skill in Microsoft Office and Google Suites
    • Willing to submit to a background check

    Schedule & Minimum Commitment

    • Participate in and complete a one-hour virtual training prior to the start of Workshops
    • Commit to serve as a College Coach for up to eight Peer Leaders over four days
    • Conduct a one-hour college coaching session for up to eight Peer Leaders each
    • Use the PeerForward template to complete a college list for each student with ten college options as well as senior year next steps
