Description
LYT is seeking a Public Relations Assistant to support communication efforts, media outreach, and brand awareness initiatives. This role will assist the PR team in creating written content, managing communications, and supporting initiatives that promote LYT’s mission and community impact.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist with writing press releases, announcements, newsletters, and communication materials.
- Support PR campaigns, outreach efforts, and storytelling initiatives.
- Research media contacts, community partners, and PR opportunities.
- Assist with preparing talking points, social media copy, and promotional materials.
- Coordinate with the Marketing Team and Lead Designer to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
- Maintain PR documents, calendars, and communication records.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Attend volunteer meetings and provide updates on PR projects.
- Support LYT events, campaigns, and organizational initiatives.
- Collaborate effectively with other departments and volunteers.
- Follow LYT policies, maintain professionalism, and represent the organization positively.
- Assist with additional communication tasks as needed.
Skills & Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Communications; degrees in Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or related fields are also applicable.
- Experience with public relations, communications, content creation, or nonprofit work preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with a team.
- Passion for community impact, advocacy, and LYT’s mission
