Description
Community members can help children learn about food and empower them to make healthy eating choices by serving as a Power of Produce (POP) Club volunteer. The POP Club is a Farmers Market Coalition program that serves to help educate families/children and encourage them to visit farmers markets.
THIS VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY IS PERFECT FOR GROUPS
Power of Produce (POP) Club is the 4th Sunday of each month, June - October, for children ages 5 - 12. This a nationally recognized program, adopted across the US that helps educate children about healthy eating and where their food comes from. It also encourages children to try produce that they have never eaten before.
After the parent registers the child, the child gets a cute fruit themed bag for their shopping. At each POP Club day, 4th Sunday, they also get six dollars in POP Club Bucks to spend with our farmers for the fresh fruits and vegetables and food producing plants such as herb plants, veggie plants. We will also have an activity and 'Two Bite' Club taste tests for the children.
