    Description

Volunteer Marketing Manager | Remote | 6-8 Hours per Week

    Volunteer Marketing Manager

Global Consortium of Political Analysts (GCPA)

Remote | 6–8 hours per week

    About GCPA

The Global Consortium of Political Analysts is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit think tank headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia. We advance evidence-based policymaking through rigorous research on fragile-state dynamics, security sector reform, and post-conflict governance, drawing on a global network of more than 200 scholars, practitioners, and data scientists across 70+ countries.

    About the Role

GCPA is seeking a Volunteer Marketing Manager to lead the day-to-day execution of our Marketing Department's 2026–2028 strategic plan. This is a substantive leadership role, not a supporting one. You will own GCPA's external presence across digital channels, drive thought leadership content, support our flagship journal launch, and help build the philanthropic and consulting pipeline that will sustain the organization's growth.

This position is unpaid in Year One. As GCPA secures grant and contract funding, paid roles within the Marketing Department will be activated, and high-performing volunteers will be prioritized for those opportunities.

    What You'll Do

    • Manage GCPA's digital channels (website, LinkedIn, email newsletter, and social media), maintaining a consistent, high-quality content cadence
    • Develop and maintain a 90-day content calendar, coordinating with research divisions to translate analytical outputs into public-facing content
    • Support external thought leadership efforts, including outreach to prestige policy publication venues (War on the Rocks, Lawfare, and equivalents)
    • Assist with editorial board recruitment and contributor outreach for The Global Quarterly, GCPA's flagship peer-reviewed journal launching in Winter 2027
    • Contribute to grant application narratives and foundation prospect research
    • Support consulting business development materials, including GCPA Consulting LLC's capability statement and pitch collateral
    • Track performance against KPIs (newsletter subscribers, LinkedIn growth, website traffic, foundation meetings) and report quarterly to GCPA leadership

    What We're Looking For

    • Graduate degree required (MBA, marketing, communications, journalism, political science, international affairs, or a related field)
    • Demonstrated experience managing social media and content operations, ideally for a nonprofit, think tank, policy organization, or mission-driven brand
    • Strong writer — you can translate complex, analytical material into clear, credible public-facing content
    • Familiarity with the policy and national security media landscape is a plus
    • Self-directed and organized; able to manage a content pipeline with minimal supervision
    • Genuine interest in GCPA's mission: fragile-state research, security sector reform, and civic literacy

    Commitment

6–8 hours per week, fully remote, with flexible scheduling. Regular coordination with GCPA leadership via email and video conference.
