Role Overview:

Greenstand is seeking an Android Project Manager to lead the continued development of the Treetracker Android App, a core tool that captures tree growth data in the field. The app supports communities living in poverty by enabling them to record tree planting activity, which is then verified through a data pipeline. The Project Manager will guide the app through an active roadmap that includes UX refinement, GPS accuracy improvements, optimized capture workflows, enhanced debugging capabilities, updated wireframes, and structured release milestones. You will oversee a development process that keeps the app reliable, fast, and aligned with Greenstand’s broader ecosystem focused on environmental sustainability and economic empowerment.

AREAS of RESPONSIBILITY

• Define project objectives, scope, and deliverables in alignment with the Android Tree Tracker roadmap, which includes standardized UI elements, updated wireframes, reduction of unnecessary clicks, improved field transfer flows, and general UX optimization
• Develop and execute detailed project plans and timelines that reflect current roadmap priorities such as GPS accuracy enhancement, convergence timeout optimization, linking captures to geo location cookies, reducing decimal places to more practical values, and tuning image saving and display times.
• Coordinate cross functional collaboration between developers, UX/UI designers, and stakeholders to support roadmap items like new tracking session behaviour, tracking time reduction, removal of outdated interface elements, and version specific improvements, including the planned 2.3 release.
• Monitor project progress, solve operational issues, and ensure milestones are delivered on schedule based on the defined release structure that includes short test cycles and organized version control in Github.
• Oversee the integration of new features into the app, ensuring performance, usability, and compatibility with Greenstand’s ecosystem. This includes supporting the rollout of debugging and monitoring tools to improve visibility into app behaviour.
• Gather and integrate user and stakeholder feedback and translate it into updated wireframes, document revisions, and refinements across UX flows.
• Identify risks that may disrupt app performance, release timing, or field usability and develop mitigation strategies.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for all updates, workflows, and technical changes, including organizing design files, updating the project roadmap, and managing structured task breakdowns.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

• Proficiency in project management methodologies, including Agile and Scrum.
• Strong understanding of mobile application development processes, especially for Android.
• Experience managing cross-functional teams and coordinating between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills with attention to detail to ensure the app’s features meet user needs and organizational goals.
• Familiarity with GitHub, GitDocs, and open-source development practices is a strong advantage.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proven experience in project management, particularly in software or mobile application projects.
• Certification in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile certifications) is preferred.
• Experience working with non-profit or environmental organizations is a bonus.
• Ability to work independently while leading a collaborative team.
