On April 30, the Allegheny Youth Vote Coalition, in coordination with local school districts, is hosting the first-ever Youth Vote Block Party. This event is an opportunity for local high school students to celebrate the important milestone of casting their first vote, welcoming students into civic participation. All registered students in Allegheny County are invited to participate in this civic engagement event. Students will receive transportation downtown to enjoy music, speakers, resource booths, food, and interactive activities, culminating in the opportunity to vote early in the Pennsylvania midterm primary. The event will be held at and near the City-County Building Downtown.
In order to make the day a success we will need a lot of hands and hearts, for what we think will be a fun, exciting, and impactful volunteer experience.
The Allegheny Youth Vote (AYV) Coalition unites nonpartisan civic engagement nonprofits to engage students in civic activities, support informed voting, foster dialogue between youth and officials, and help students recognize the power of their voice and their vote.
Coalition members include: PA Youth Vote, The Civics Center, NCJW-Pittsburgh, League of Women Voters of Greater Pittsburgh, The Black Political Empowerment Project, Women and Girls Foundation, VoteRiders, the Pittsburgh Chapter of The Links Inc., and Pennsylvanians for Modern Courts.
