    Description

    Food Pantry Assistant

This is a volunteer opportunity, not a paid position.

Human Environment Linking People Inc. (HELP Inc.) is looking for volunteers to assist with their pantry with sorting and collecting donated foods. Additionally volunteers may help with stocking the donated items, calculating inventory, and rotating out any foods that may be expired or damaged. This assignment may come in direct contact with the residents and families of the community in a face-to-face nature. Assistance in day-to-day tasks and some light cleaning to ensure the area of resources is maintained may be needed as well.

A volunteer in this position will need to be able to carry and unload food crates and boxes from where they are received to the area for sorting and then to the pantry. Volunteers must wear comfortable but appropriate clothing and closed-toed shoes. Those who are 14 through 16 years of age may volunteer while accompanied by a parent or guardian and those 17 and older may volunteer on their own. Volunteers are needed any time between Monday through Thursday from 10am to 1pm. Some need may be available before and after for setup and cleanup.
