    Description

Help Transport Future Service Dog Puppies!

Support the start of the journey for the next generation of service dog puppies by ensuring they catch their flight to their puppy raiser! Assist by driving our future service dog puppies to a needed destination, including to/from the airport or to the puppy raiser. Training, supplies and guidelines will be provided to you. Watch our puppy transport reel here!

    What You'll Do:

    • Deliver 8-week-old future service dogs from regional airports to the homes of their volunteer puppy raisers.
    • Prep shipping crates for upcoming flights, including adding clean bedding, water, etc. (supplies provided).
    • Ensure all puppy identification and accompanying records are kept in order and are consistent.
    • If flying, deliver the puppies to the airport in plenty of time for their flight, understanding that the airlines have firm cut-off times and that cargo locations may be busy at popular times of day. Stay with the puppies until they're in a secure area.
    • Provide wellness, care and support for the puppies - including keeping the crates clean & sanitary.
    • Communicate closely with Canine Companions about the puppies’ where abouts.

    Requirements:

    • Must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable, working vehicle if transporting dogs via car.
    • Work with Canine Companions staff when dogs near you are in need of transportation.
    • Be willing to travel a range of distances, as pre-determined between you and staff with a young puppy or dog, including allowing for breaks to toilet the puppy as needed.
    • Puppy transport volunteers can also host a dog overnight as needed.
    • Must follow the guidelines provided by Canine Companions, be flexible and understand there can be last-minute changes in the Canine Travel schedule.
