    Description

Community Impact Leader: Help Feed 1,000+ Neighbors with Dignity

Swan Food Pantry, a primary ministry of First Baptist Church Swan, is seeking a high-energy, compassionate individual to join our mission of eradicating physical hunger in East Texas.

We aren't just a pantry; we are a community hub that serves over 1,500 households monthly across Swan, Lindale, and Tyler. We believe in "Service with Dignity," ensuring that every neighbor who comes through our drive up feels valued, respected, and heard. As we grow—supported by local "Pillars of the Pantry" like Chick-fil-A, Whataburger, and Little Caesars—we need volunteers to help manage the flow of food and hope.

    Responsibilities:

    • Distribution Oversight: Assist in sorting, box building, loading and unloading product to areas that are to be placed in our Tuesday food distribution, ensuring neighbors are checked in and served efficiently.
    • Volunteer Engagement: Willingness to take some at home training online. Work side by side with other community member volunteer teams. (we provide sponsored lunches for all volunteers!).
    • Inventory & Rescue: Helping with intake of "rescued food" from partners like Brookshire’s (we moved over 16,000 lbs last year!) and ensuring quality control. Sorting and storing product in proper location.
    • Neighbor Relations: Acting as a warm, welcoming presence for families in need, offering resources when requested.
    • Mission Alignment: Maintaining the pantry’s standard of "Service with Dignity" in every interaction.

    Qualifications:

    • Heart for the Community: A genuine passion for helping families in the Swan/Lindale/Tyler area.
    • Leadership Skills: Ability to stay calm and organized during a busy distribution day. We serve over 400 families every Tuesday.
    • Physical Ability: Able to stand for periods of time and lift up to 25 lbs (moving food boxes/crates).
    • Communication: Comfortable talking to people from all walks of life with kindness and respect. Being bi-lingual (Spanish / English ) is a plus!
    • Values Match: Alignment with the mission of Swan Food Pantry to provide physical restoration.

    Other Details:

    • Location: 11364 US Hwy 69 N Tyler, TX (north wing of First Baptist Church).
    • Time Commitment: Ideally available on Tuesdays (Distribution Day), but we have flexible roles for Monday/Wednesday/Friday/Saturday intake as well. Arrival onsite at 10 AM till complete. About 3 hours.
    • Perks: You’ll be part of a "lean and mean" non-profit team where 75% of our budget goes directly to food. Plus, you’ll enjoy a free weekly lunch from our corporate sponsors! Make sure to thank them next time you are in to get a bite at these location.
    • How to Apply: Visit us at swanfoodpantry.org/volunteer to learn more about our mission and fill out a volunteer interest form.
