    Description

Ausome Expressions is a ten-week arts residency for thirty youth and young adults in the Metro East, built around celebrating people with autism.

Every Saturday, the cohort learns about a person with autism — who they are, how their mind works, what the world got wrong about them — and then makes work in response. Participants choose one of three pathways: Visual and Written, Music and Dance, or Design and Production.

Saturday sessions run January 23 – March 27, 2027, 10am–2pm, at A Special Place Campus, 424 Lebanon Ave, Belleville. The residency ends in public at Unmasking in the MetroEast, a free community showcase on Saturday, April 3, 2027, 10am–2pm.

Share your time and skills as an Ausome Expressions volunteer. This is an ongoing opportunity from November 2026 through April 2027 with open enrollment. All backgrounds welcome.

Ausome Expressions is the winter cycle of Pathways to Expression, SIP Arts Foundation’s community arts program. SIP Arts Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity and an affiliate of The Arc of Illinois, serving families across Southwestern Illinois with free, accessible programming.
