    Description

    About the opportunity

    We are looking for volunteers to support adult learners in our GED Boost Camp this summer. Students in this program are working hard toward earning their GED, and your support can make a real difference. No teaching experience is needed, just a willingness to show up, encourage students, and help them work through GED material at their own pace. Training will be provided before the camp begins.

    Position details

    Title: Volunteer GED Tutor

    Dates: July 27 – August 20, 2026

    Days: Monday, Tuesday & Thursday (Only two 2 days required, third is optional)

    Hours: 11am – 5pm window (Volunteers commit to any 4 hours during this time)

    Time commitment: 8 – 12 hours per week, 4 weeks

    Location: St. Suzanne Cody Rouge Community Resource Center

    Format: In person, individualized tutoring

    What you'll do

    • Work one-on-one with adult students preparing for the GED exam
    • Support learners across all GED subject areas, including Math, Reasoning Through Language Arts (RLA), Science, and Social Studies
    • Help students stay on track, build confidence, and practice at their own pace
    • Collaborate with program staff to meet each student's individual needs

    What we're looking for

    • GED or High School Diploma required, some college experience preferred
    • Patient, encouraging, and reliable
    • Able to commit to 2-3 scheduled days per week for the full 4 weeks
    • Comfortable working with adult learners in a supportive, low-pressure environment

    Training

    All volunteers will receive training before the camp begins. We will walk you through our approach to individualized tutoring and make sure you feel ready and confident going in.
