    Description

Slant’d is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, independent publishing house reimagining publishing to be more accessible, equitable, and joyful for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs). Built from the ground up by and for the AAPI community, we partner with undiscovered writers and artists to co-create vibrant works that spark curiosity, introspection, and joy. Since 2017, we’ve empowered 200+ AAPI creatives to find their voice and a greater sense of belonging — and we’re just getting started.

    ABOUT THE ROLE

Slant’d is looking for a Recruitment Coordinator to support our annual volunteer recruitment cycle and help ensure a thoughtful and organized experience for prospective team members.

    SCOPE OF THE ROLE

This role reports to the Director of People & Culture and works closely with Workstream (WS) Leads / Hiring Managers. This role does not require the management of other team members. This person will focus on supporting 2 recruitment cycles in 2026 & in 2027, with the opportunity to discuss staying on afterwards depending on performance, capacity, and interest.

The role is heavily project management–based across ~4 months (Jan-Apr) into defined phases. This role is responsible for planning, organizing, tracking, and driving the execution of Slant’d’s annual recruitment and onboarding cycle, in partnership with hiring managers. They ensure clarity of timelines, accountability across stakeholders, and a smooth candidate experience from start to finish. Outside of peak recruiting periods, there is no expectation of ongoing weekly involvement. However, the Recruitment Coordinator may be asked to provide limited, clearly scoped support for unexpected turnover or off-cycle hiring needs (e.g., up to once per quarter). Any off-cycle support will be time-bound, aligned with capacity, and coordinated with the Director of P&C.

This is a fully-remote, volunteer role. The role is flexible around when work gets done and varies by phase. Meetings are typically held on weeknights (around 5 PM PST) or weekend mornings (around 10 AM PST).

Anticipated, average time commitment outlined below:

    • Phase 1 Recruitment Prep (Jan - Feb): 3-5 hrs / week
    • Phase 2 Active Recruitment (March): 4-6 hrs / week
    • Phase 3 Wrap Up & Transition (April): 2-4 hrs / week

    WHAT YOU’LL GAIN

Joining Slant’d means becoming part of something bigger: a collective of AAPI dreamers and doers who believe deeply in the power of storytelling. In addition to the meaningful work itself, you can expect:

    • A behind-the-scenes look at how an independent nonprofit publishing house operates
    • The satisfaction of knowing that your work of helping us find the right people directly impacts what we do as a nonprofit
    • A vibrant community of passionate, fun-loving creative humans who are fiercely committed to creating spaces for our community’s stories to shine
    • Slant’d publications and merch, including copies of our latest issue and invitations to Slant’d events
    • The chance to make a real impact in the AAPI community and independent publishing

      • Works collaboratively with the P&C team and WS Leads throughout the cycle
