Meals on Wheels - Operation Birthday Surprise Volunteers Needed

    What We Do

At Meals on Wheels, we believe no senior should go hungry or feel forgotten. Every day, we deliver more than just nutritious meals—we deliver connection, dignity, and hope to older adults who are homebound or facing mobility challenges. Our volunteers are the heart of our mission, turning compassion into action and ensuring our neighbors can live independently with the nourishment and care they deserve.

    The Impact You'll Make

As an Operation Birthday Surprise Volunteer, you will be more than a delivery person - you will be a friendly face, and sometimes the only visitor a senior sees that day. Your time and kindness will help reduce isolation, improve health, and bring comfort to those who need it most.

    What You'll Do & What You'll Bring

This is a volunteer driver position using your own vehicle, helping to deliver a birthday cupcake during the client’s birthday month. Location of routes are throughout Strafford County with our Main Kitchen sites of Dover, Somersworth, Rochester NH. Pickup location will be at either of our main sites.

Volunteers will greet each client warmly, offering a moment of conversation and a friendly check-in.

They will maintain confidentiality and treat all clients with respect and compassion.

Must possess a strong commitment to following food safety and delivery guidelines.

You understand that for many clients, your visit is essential. There are no heavy lifting requirements – only the ability to carry cupcake meal containers!

We are looking for friendly, patient, and respectful volunteers, who will maintain this attitude toward people of all backgrounds.

Volunteers must possess a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and proof of insurance. Must be able to pass background check.

    Why You'll Love It Here

The joy of knowing you are making a direct, meaningful difference in someone’s life.

Connection with a community of caring volunteers and staff.

Training and ongoing support to help you feel confident in your role.

The smiles, gratitude, and stories you will receive from the people you serve.
