    SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHER NEEDED

    SUBJECTS: CRE & HISTORY | BIOLOGY & CHEMISTRY

    Embakasi area, Nairobi, Kenya | Full-Time On-site | Immediate Start

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    We are seeking secondary school teachers with 2 to 5+ years of full-time teaching experience in:

    • Christian Religious Education (CRE) & History
    • Biology & Chemistry

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    The selected teacher will:

    • Plan and deliver subject lessons aligned with curriculum and school standards
    • Maintain clear schemes of work, lesson plans, and student assessment records
    • Monitor and document student academic progress
    • Provide academic and pastoral support to assigned students
    • Participate in co-curricular activities and school development initiatives
    • Engage with parents/guardians as required
    • Collaborate with colleagues, leadership, and support staff
    • Uphold safeguarding and professional conduct standards

    PROFESSIONAL TEACHING & EXPECTATIONS

    Strong candidates will demonstrate:

    • Structured lesson planning and organized preparation
    • Effective assessment, marking, correction, and feedback practices
    • Learner-centered instruction (not lecture-only)
    • Active teaching strategies (projects, discussion, research, presentations)
    • Stable professional history with no unexplained gaps
    • Clear written communication
    • Willingness to support co-curricular activities and engage parents

    STUDENT SUPPORT & SAFEGUARDING

    Applicants should demonstrate:

    • Experience supporting struggling learners
    • Positive and respectful discipline
    • Awareness of emotional and trauma-informed practices
    • Mentorship or guidance roles
    • Clear understanding of child safeguarding and professional boundaries

    Experience with international curricula (IB, Cambridge, IGCSE) strengthens an application.

    COMPENSATION

    A full monthly stipend commensurate with Kenyan secondary school standards will be offered. Continued engagement is contingent upon measurable student progress and professional performance.

Founded in 1995 in response to widespread poverty and community loss, Orbit walks alongside children and families toward long-term stability and hope. Today, the project serves hundreds of children and families through integrated programs that include primary and secondary education, children’s homes, daily feeding initiatives, a medical clinic, church and community outreach, and income-generating activities.
