The DesignLights Consortium mission is to drive efficient lighting by defining quality, facilitating thought leadership, and delivering tools and resources to the lighting market through open dialogue and collaboration.
The DLC provides a credible, unbiased third-party validation program,
simplifying the product vetting process for efficiency programs and enabling them
to focus on their customers’ needs. Driven by the needs of the DLC Member
programs, with industry input on technical capabilities, the DLC defines
performance and quality by setting and maintaining technical specifications and
requirements. Products that demonstrate compliance with DLC requirements are
added to the DLC’s Solid State Lighting Qualified Products List (QPL). The QPL
tool identifies safe, high-performing products for DLC Members to incentivize
and validates energy performance to ensure reliable energy savings. The DLC
also works to navigate the next energy savings opportunities for lighting efficiency
program administrators. The Commercial Advanced Lighting Controls (CALC) project
is an example of how the DLC tackles new technologies for enhanced savings,
reducing market barriers, and bringing complex solutions to scale through
efficiency program support and industry collaboration.
