Fancy name change included, becoming a director may just be the perfect next step for your social-impact career—especially if you have the experience to back you up. Most director positions require applicants to have three to five years of management experience, excellent communication skills, and a track record of successful collaboration. It’s also helpful to have experience in the hiring organization’s specific issue area and be able to demonstrate how you’ve already made an impact.
