Sustainable Environmental Reforestation and Adaptation (SERA-2030)

  • About Us

SERA2030 is a community-driven environmental initiative based at APAO Village in Kigamboni, Dar es Salaam. We work with families, youth, and local groups to restore degraded landscapes through large-scale Moringa oleifera planting, biodiversity mapping, and regenerative community development.

Our model unites reforestation, biodiversity documentation (using iNaturalist and WeNaturalist), environmental education, and green livelihoods through Moringa nutrition, agroforestry, and family-led planting. By planting Moringa and indigenous species, we aim to build a community carbon sink, improve ecosystem health, and strengthen climate resilience across Kigamboni.

SERA2030 operates as a non-commercial, social-impact program. Volunteers, researchers, interns, and partners join us in hands-on activities including tree planting, ecological data collection, carbon and canopy monitoring, regenerative living practices, community mobilization, and environmental storytelling. Together, we are cultivating a living demonstration of how families can restore land, protect biodiversity, and build a greener future.
