The San Mateo County Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Commission

  • Mission

It is the mission of the SMC JJDPC to be a public conscience in the best interest of young people. The Commission advocates for programs and services that prevent youth entry into the juvenile justice system, and that provide tools young people need to thrive and succeed in life. The Commission seeks to promote respect for the human dignity of all young people who do enter the juvenile justice system and seeks to preserve their youth.

    About Us

The Commission is a 15 member volunteer organization with oversight responsibilities for the juvenile justice system. Commissioners’ responsibilities include: monthly meeting attendance, project participation, and annual inspections of locked-facilities. We make recommendations to the San Mateo County Juvenile Court, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors and the Board of State and Community Corrections and Rehabilitation.
