    Representative Herod was elected in 2016 as the first LGBTQ African American in the General Assembly. Since then, she has sent 52 bills to the Governor’s desk, including legislation to de-felonize drug possession, end cash bail for minor offenses, give a $100 college kickstarter account to every child born or adopted in Colorado, and require jails and prisons to provide free menstrual hygiene products to inmates.
