Description
Our client is seeking a collaborative, mission-driven Director of Compliance to lead efforts across multiple social service programs.
What You'll Do
As our Director of Compliance, you'll serve as a trusted partner to program leadership, helping strengthen services through thoughtful oversight, education, and continuous quality improvement.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and mentoring a dedicated compliance team of 6–8 professionals.
- Building a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organization.
- Developing, reviewing, and implementing policies and procedures that support best practices and regulatory compliance.
- Conducting compliance reviews, audits, and site visits to ensure programs consistently meet City, State, Federal, and funder requirements.
- Preparing programs for inspections and audits while providing guidance and support throughout the process.
- Identifying opportunities to improve compliance, reduce organizational risk, and strengthen service delivery.
- Analyzing regulatory and contract requirements and translating them into practical tools, policies, and workflows.
- Partnering with program leaders to develop solutions that improve performance and client outcomes.
- Delivering training and coaching that empowers staff to confidently meet compliance expectations.
- Supporting performance improvement initiatives and coordinating incident investigations when needed.
- Working across diverse programs operating under multiple regulatory agencies, including Medicaid-funded services.
What You Bring
We're looking for someone who combines strong regulatory knowledge with a collaborative leadership style and a genuine commitment to helping people.
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Social Work, Public Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- 4+ years of progressive compliance, quality assurance, or regulatory experience within social services or human services.
- Experience working with government funders and regulatory agencies.
- Previous experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong understanding of state and federal regulations affecting human service organizations.
- Experience preparing for and responding to audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.
- Knowledge of the AWARDS database is a plus.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
- Strong analytical thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift quickly.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new technology platforms.
