Description
The Choice is managing an exciting direct hire search for a Director of IT for our client- a nonprofit higher education association.
This role is responsible for providing leadership, operational oversight and management of the organization’s information technology environment.
- Office location: Downtown DC, in close walking distance to all metro lines
- Schedule: Hybrid position
- Salary: $120,000 - $150,000
Qualifications:
- A completed Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field is required.
- At minimum 5 years of prior experience in IT, with increasing levels of responsibility.
- Previous experience at a nonprofit would be a very large plus.
- Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, cloud technologies, networking, cybersecurity, and systems administration.
- Experience managing third-party vendors and technology service providers.
- Strong communication skills and ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
Job Duties:
- Set and maintain the organization’s IT roadmap, ensuring technology supports organizational priorities.
- Improve systems, workflows, and user experience.
- Evaluate new technologies and recommend practical, secure, and scalable solutions.
- Oversee IT operations with the external provider, including networks, cloud services, endpoints, and system security.
- Manage user access, identity controls, and security settings.
- Maintain backup, recovery, and business continuity capabilities.
- Oversee email, mobile devices, endpoint protection, and collaboration tools.
- Ensure reliable system performance for staff and external users.
- Develop and maintain security policies and practices with the organization’s IT partner.
- Monitor threats, vulnerabilities, patching, and incident response efforts.
- Lead cybersecurity awareness and data protection training.
- Ensure compliance with applicable technology-related requirements.
- Work with staff and consultants to select, implement, and support business applications.
- Maintain internal websites, databases, board portals, and related platforms.
- Administer Zoom and other collaboration tools.
- Oversee technical support for hardware, software, and system issues.
- Coordinate user training and guidance on technology tools and procedures.
- Ensure timely resolution of support requests and a positive user experience.
- Maintain IT documentation, including systems, assets, licenses, configurations, and credentials.
- Establish and update operating procedures and technology standards.
- Serve as the main point of contact for IT vendors and service providers.
- Manage vendor contracts and monitor service performance.
