Early education internship

If you’d like to contribute to the creation of unique opportunities for young children to interact with different cultures, experience working with different education models, and pursue an internship abroad, then we might be the right fit for you.

We are looking for interns interested in nursery and preschool education to join two of our partner educational centers in Agrigento, Sicily: a traditional Italian nursery/preschool and a bilingual, American-inspired early childhood center. You will get practical experience in structured educational environments focused on child development, creativity, and bilingual learning.

As an intern, you will actively support educators in children’s daily routines, educational activities, workshops, and English-language immersion experiences while contributing to the creation of safe, engaging, and supportive classroom environments.

Your role

• Support educators during children’s daily routines, including arrival, playtime, meals, hygiene routines, and rest time
• Assist in creating welcoming, structured, and supportive classroom environments for children of different age groups
• Participate in educational and didactic activities focused on early literacy, numeracy, creativity, sensory exploration, and child development
• Support creative workshops and hands-on activities such as arts and crafts, music, movement, storytelling, and sensory play
• Assist during bilingual and English-language immersion activities by encouraging children’s exposure to English through everyday interaction and guided activities
• Collaborate with teachers and educational staff during classroom activities, workshops, and small-group sessions
• Encourage positive social interaction, participation, autonomy, and emotional well-being among children
• Observe children’s participation, behavior, and engagement while learning about age-appropriate educational approaches and classroom management strategies
• Help prepare educational materials, activity spaces, and workshop resources
• Contribute to maintaining safe, organized, and child-friendly learning environments

Apply if this is you:

• You are currently studying or have a background in Education, Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Psychology, Pedagogy, Social Sciences, or related fields
• You are passionate about child development, early learning, and supporting children in their educational and emotional growth
• You enjoy working with children and creating positive, engaging, and supportive learning environments
• You are patient, empathetic, creative, and comfortable participating in dynamic classroom and workshop activities
• You are interested in bilingual learning environments and open to discovering different educational approaches
• You are adaptable, proactive, and comfortable working with different age groups within nursery and preschool settings
• You have a good command of English (around C1 level)

To ensure a smooth and successful internship, all our interns have access to the following resources:

• Shared accommodation in fully furnished apartments (utilities included)
• Italian language classes (beginner and intermediate levels)
• Administrative support throughout the internship
• Participation in cultural activities and events

Our Requirements:

• You are eligible for the Erasmus+ program or a similar international mobility program, which typically provide you with financial support
• You are available to spend at least 4 months in Agrigento
• You are able to cover possible short-distance commuting expenses related to the internship
