    Description

    The Pauli Murray Awards Foundation is proud to announce the 2026 Inaugural Summer Intern Cohort! If selected to join this cohort, you will be part of more than just another summer internship, but a diverse, joyful, dedicated, and brilliant team that could be friends for life!

    In addition, internship participants will have direct access to the Foundation's Board of Directors, a deeply knowledgeable and resourceful group of professionals from all walks of life willing to serve as mentors to the Foundation's summer interns.

    We are recruiting interns at all levels of their professional journey (high school, college, graduate school, professional school, active and retired professionals)!

    The 2026 PMAF Summer Internship positions fall into the following job functions:

    • Finance Intern
    • Special Events Intern
    • Executive Intern
    • Communications Intern
    • Development Intern
    • Legal Intern
    • Programs Intern
    • Information Technology Intern
    • People Operations Intern

    The Interns assist in a variety of tasks including organizing and promoting the annual Pauli Murray Awards, conducting research on potential nominees, supporting digital storytelling initiatives, contributing to social media content creation, working with the Board, fundraising, grant writing, budget planning, and assisting in virtual and physical event planning.

    Interns also participate in team meetings, maintain records, and collaborate closely with program staff and the Board to ensure seamless execution of foundation activities.

    What We're Looking For

    • Commitment to the values and mission of the Foundation
    • Eagerness and willingness to learn and be mentored
    • Some skills in Research, Data Collection, and Analysis
    • Experience with Social Media Content Creation, Digital Storytelling, and Online Communication
    • Experience or curiosity in Event Planning and Organizational Skills
    • Adequate Communication, Writing, and Document Editing abilities
    • Demonstrated Interest in Social Justice, LGBTQ+ rights Advocacy, and Community Engagement
    • Adaptability to work remotely and collaborate with a highly motivated team
    • Pursuing or recently completed an associates or undergraduate degree in Communications, Social Sciences, Nonprofit Management, or a related field is recommended but not required

    Compensation

    At this time, we are only accepting interns on a volunteer basis with the possibility of a modest stipend to be determined in June. In lieu of compensation, interns are also encouraged to seek externship credit through their university's academic program. In addition, interns will have access to skilled and influential mentors working with the Foundation's Board of Directors. Our Board of Directors come from all walks of life and industry from Wall Street to Hollywood and have worked at or direct affiliations with a variety of Fortune 500 companies including AmLaw 100 law firms, Big 5 accounting firms, Big Tech companies, fashion and luxury products companies, and more.
