    Description

Agricultural Missions, Inc. (AMI) is seeking a creative and detail-oriented intern to support our social media, website, and program communications efforts. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in nonprofit communications, storytelling, and community-centered development work, particularly in support of Black farmers and rural communities in the U.S. and West Africa.

The intern will work closely with AMI’s Executive Director and leadership team to strengthen the organization’s visibility, document program impact, and support communications that elevate the voices and experiences of the communities we serve.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop, schedule, and manage content across AMI’s social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, etc.)
    • Assist with updates and content management for AMI’s website (WordPress or similar platforms)
    • Support storytelling efforts by drafting blog posts, newsletters, and program updates
    • Help document program activities, including convenings, partnerships, and fieldwork
    • Create simple graphics and visual content using tools such as Canva
    • Support communications for upcoming events, including the Black Belt Study Sessions and Black Farmer Survey initiatives
    • Assist in maintaining a consistent brand voice and messaging across platforms
    • Track basic analytics and engagement metrics to inform communications strategy

    Qualifications:

    • Current undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduate, in communications, marketing, journalism, nonprofit management, or a related field
    • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences
    • Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation best practices
    • Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design tools preferred
    • Basic website management experience (WordPress or similar) is a plus
    • Highly organized, proactive, and able to work independently in a remote environment
    • Interest in agriculture, racial equity, rural development, or international development strongly preferred

    Internship Details:

    • Remote and flexible schedule
    • Opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit communications and program strategy
    • Exposure to grant-funded initiatives, coalition-building, and national/international partnerships
    • Potential for academic credit (if applicable)

This internship is ideal for someone who is passionate about using communications as a tool for social change and wants to contribute to meaningful, community-driven work.
