    About Asian Americans for Civil Rights and Equality

    The Asian Americans for Civil Rights and Equality (AACRE) network was launched in 2014 to focus on long-term movement building, capacity infrastructure, and leadership support for Asian Americans committed to social justice. There are currently 11 partnering member groups with unique strengths. Fiscal sponsorship, administrative, and operational support is provided centrally for all of these groups so they can focus on their core programs.

    Position Overview

    The Finance Coordinator supports AACRE’s financial operations by managing key accounts receivable activities and assisting with core accounting processes. This role helps prepare contract invoices, supports fund accounting through expense tracking and release postings, and ensures accurate recording of daily deposits and donor contributions. The Finance Coordinator maintains organized financial records, monitors outstanding receivables, and communicates important revenue information to program and development teams. Additionally, the role aids the monthly close by gathering essential financial documents and coordinating information needed for timely reporting. Through strong organization and attention to detail, the Finance Coordinator helps uphold AACRE’s financial accuracy and operational integrity.

    Key Responsibilities

    Accounts Receivable

    • Assist in preparation of government and other contract invoices, such as gathering and maintaining supporting documentation internally and from subcontractors.
    • Facilitate fund accounting by helping track expenses by funding sources and communicating with program leads of the AACRE groups when questions arise.
    • Use the above information to post to the General Ledger monthly releases from fund restrictions.
    • Monitor and retrieve bank deposits daily.
    • Retrieve donor records from various donation platforms and perform the identifying, logging, and posting functions.
    • Help identify donations and other payment receipts by gift type and intended program recipient, log into financial records, and post to the General Ledger. Maintain orderly supporting records.Notify members of development and finance teams of payments received.
    • Monitor Accountings Receivable aging report for overdue payments

    General Accounting

    • Initiate monthly closing process for the finance team by gathering and sharing with the team links to all associated documents, including not only the accounts receivables records, but also bank and investment statements, payroll records, shared cost allocation records, and adjusting journal entry records.

    Other Duties

    • Contribute to fundraising and development activities for the organization as needed
    • Perform administrative duties as required by the position
    • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall mission of the organization
    • Contribute to positive work environment in alignment with organizational values

    Other Details

    Reports to: AACRE Finance Manager

    Location: In-office, San Francisco

    Schedule: Full Time, 40 hours per week. Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm

    Rate of Pay: $36.00 to $37.50 per hour

    FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, eligible for overtime

    Union Classification: Union position

    Qualifications

    • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or two years of administrative experience requiring understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles.
    • Ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records (a knack for numbers).
    • Experience with nonprofits and fund/grants accounting (preferred).
    • Computer-based accounting skills including working with spreadsheets and accounting software.
    • Good verbal communication skills and ability, patience, and kindness to explain accounting procedures to non-accounting staff.
    • Commitment to AACRE’s mission, values, and aspirations, and ability to render these values into practice.
    • Ability to work full-time, in-person at the AACRE office in San Francisco.
