    Description

    St. Mark’s Church-in-the-Bowery is looking for a warm, reliable, and enthusiastic Sunday School Co-Teacher to help lead our multi-age Sunday School program during our 11:00 a.m. worship service.

    Responsibilities

    • Arrive at 10:00 a.m. to prepare the classroom and materials for the morning.
    • Welcome and greet children as they arrive.
    • Teach and lead Sunday School using a provided curriculum.
    • Help create a warm, welcoming, and engaging environment where children can learn, ask questions, and grow in their faith.
    • Work collaboratively with the Sunday School team and other church staff and volunteers.
    • Clean up the classroom and materials after Sunday School.
    • Participate in occasional special children’s or family programs during the week or at other times of the year.

    Time Commitment

    • Sundays: 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
    • One hour of preparation during the week
    • Occasional additional programs or events as needed.

    Ideal Candidate

    We are looking for someone who is:

    • Warm, friendly, patient, and comfortable working with children.
    • Dependable and able to commit to Sunday mornings.
    • Comfortable in a church setting and interested in helping children explore their faith.
    • Creative, enthusiastic, and willing to engage children of different ages and backgrounds.
    • A collaborative team member.

    Previous experience teaching children or working in a church setting is a plus, but training and support will be provided. We are especially interested in someone who brings warmth, curiosity, and a genuine love of working with children.

    Safe Church training is required and will be provided by St. Mark’s.

    Level of Language Proficiency

    English proficiency, Spanish a plus.
