    Job Title: Communications Manager

    Department: Development and Communications

    Reports to: Deputy Executive Director

    Position Type: Full Time

    FLSA Classification: Exempt

    Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8am – 4pm with 1 hour lunch break, hybrid

    Position Summary

    The Communications Manager leads CHiPS' communications strategy and produces the content, design, and

    digital presence. They manage CHiPS' digital platforms, develop storytelling and visual content, and

    support fundraising and donor communications.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Communications & Content Development
    • Manage CHiPS' social media, e-newsletter, and website content.
    • Design graphics, flyers, social assets, and digital campaigns in Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.
    • Lead production of the annual report and key promotional materials.
    • Steward CHiPS' brand voice and visual identity; manage the communications calendar.
    • Track engagement metrics; refine content strategy accordingly.
    1. Development & Fundraising Support
    • Produce donor communications: appeals, acknowledgments, campaign messaging, stewardship content.
    • Produce fundraising materials for annual appeals, the gala, and other development initiatives.
    • Support grant writing through content, editorial, and visual production.
    • Manage the online merchandise shop.
    1. Program Visibility & Storytelling
    • Partner with program staff to collect stories, photos, and content from across CHiPS' programs.
    • Document key events, milestones, and community moments through photography, writing, and social

    content.

    • Represent communications at site visits with funders, media, and community partners.
    1. Internal Collaboration & Support
    • Coordinate with the Development team to align communications with development priorities.
    • Keep departments informed of communications schedules and content needs.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications – Required

    • Bachelor's degree and 2–3 years in nonprofit communications, marketing, or related work.
    • Strong writing and editorial skills across audiences and formats.
    • Experience with Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
    • Experience managing social media and e-newsletter platforms (Mailchimp or equivalent).
    • Strong project management; comfortable with concurrent deadlines.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Suite and G-Suite.
    • Works well independently and as part of a team.
    • Genuine commitment to CHiPS' mission and dignity-centered service.

    Qualifications – Preferred

    • Portfolio or work samples.
    • Salesforce or comparable CRM experience.
    • WordPress or other CMS experience.
    • Photography or video skills.
    • Prior small-nonprofit or direct-service experience.
    • Website analytics (Google Analytics) and social media metrics experience.

    Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

    • Must actively listen and communicate clearly.
    • Must walk, reach, sit for long periods, and stand.
    • Some evening and weekend availability for events, including the annual gala.

    Compensation & Benefits

    CHiPS offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience. The salary range for this position is $62,000 to

    $72,000. CHiPS offers a benefits package that includes generous paid time off (vacation, personal, sick days, and

    the week between Christmas and New Year's Day off), health, dental, vision and life insurance, and a retirement

    plan with matching up to 3%.
