    Job Title: Program Coordinator

    Location: Farmington Hills office and event locations

    Position Type: Full-Time (some evenings and weekends required)

    Salary: $45,000-$50,000, depending on experience

    About VegMichigan: Our mission is to introduce Michiganders to plant-based eating through positive experiences and great-tasting food. We welcome small steps and take a nonjudgmental approach to advocacy. Our vision is a Michigan where plant-based eating is widely embraced.

    About the Role: We are seeking an individual who enjoys engaging with the public. The role includes hosting and facilitating events, tabling, helping coordinate festivals, distributing food samples, assisting with our 30-day plant-based pledge program, posting on social media, and completing the necessary office work to host and participate in these events.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Engage directly with the public and initiate conversations
    • Coordinate programs and events such as tabling, food samplings, restaurant Meetups, and our 30-Day Plant-Based Pledge
    • Assist with the planning and execution of festivals
    • Manage program evaluations
    • Contribute during the weekly virtual staff meeting
    • Accurately discuss the benefits of plant-based eating (training will be provided)
    • Represent VegMichigan in a warm, inclusive, and nonjudgmental manner

    Skills and Qualities

    • Believes plant-based eating is an effective strategy to improve our food system
    • Solid understanding of plant-based eating, including environmental, ethical, and health benefits.
    • Effective collaborator with team members and external partners
    • Feels confident and comfortable speaking in public. (Presentation experience is a plus.)
    • Reliable, organized, punctual, and able to work independently
    • Strong computer skills and proficient in Gmail, Google Drive, Zoom, Canva, and posting on social media platforms. (Familiarity with Volgistics is a plus.)
    • Comfortable working with and supporting volunteers. (Volunteer Coordinator experience is a plus.)
    • Willingness to be flexible and take on new responsibilities as opportunities arise

    Requirements

    • Reliable transportation and good driving record
    • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods
    • Ability to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 20 pounds
    • Access to a personal laptop and smartphone, and able to use those devices for work
