Position Description

The purpose of the Canvass Lead role is to lead a group of five other canvassers in achieving New Economic Justice Organizing Project Action’s voter contact goals for the Public Service Commission District 1 race. The role will report to the Data Manager and operate as a conduit of information between the Data Manager and their canvassing team.

Qualifications:

• Experience canvassing or on a field team or with at least one campaign with NEJOPA, a candidate, ballot measure, or otherwise structured campaign
• The ability to remain adaptable while operating in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes
• Comfort talking to and working with people of diverse backgrounds and experiences
• Experience operating or willingness to learn how to operate the VAN system
• Good listening skills
• Strong preference given to applicants who have a dependable vehicle

Responsibilities:

• Complete 4-5 canvassing shifts per week.
• Lead a team of five canvassers to complete knock lists each shift.
• Distribute list numbers to canvassing teams at the beginning of every shift and check out canvassers at the end of each shift
• Complete training with the NEJOPA team on canvassing team leadership
• Operate as the central point of contact for the NEJOPA canvassing program leadership for your canvassing team for list distribution and event coordination
• Lead your team to coordinate with leadership and other canvassing teams in switches to phonebank days due to weather
• Lead your team in phonebanking, ensuring people stay on task, take collective breaks, and can troubleshoot with you and leadership in real time
• Communicate feedback from your team to leadership

• Tuesday-Saturday 3-8pm
