Human Resources Generalist
McIntire School of Commerce Foundation
Salary Range: $52,000-$64,000. This position is 32 hours per week and is a benefit-eligible role.
Position Overview
The McIntire School of Commerce Foundation is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to play a key role in supporting daily HR operations and ensuring the effective delivery of HR services. This position is responsible for a broad range of HR functions, including employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, payroll, benefits administration, compliance, and performance management. The HR Generalist serves as a point of contact for employees and managers, promoting a positive workplace culture and ensuring alignment with organizational policies and goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer day-to-day HR operations, policies, and programs
- Support recruitment efforts, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and onboarding
- Maintain employee records and ensure data accuracy in HR systems
- Process and manage payroll
- Assist with benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, and employee inquiries
- Provide guidance to employees and managers on HR policies and procedures
- Handle employee relations matters with professionalism and confidentiality
- Support performance management processes, including evaluations and development plans
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Assist with training and development initiatives
- Participate in HR projects and initiatives to improve processes and employee engagement
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- At least 5 years of HR experience in a generalist or similar role
- Knowledge of HR practices, employment laws, and regulations
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
- HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR)
- Experience in a higher education or nonprofit environment
