    Description

    Organizational Overview

Since 1985, Pineros Y Campesinos Unidos del Noroeste (PCUN) started as a union for farm workers, fighting to gain collective bargaining rights. This is a right that this country never fully gave to farmworkers. That’s why 80 workers founded Pineros and Campesinos Unidos del Noroeste – to fight against exploitation and all of its effects. PCUN has advocated for Oregon farmworkers and working Latinx families, working tirelessly to empower these communities to understand and take action against systematic exploitation and its harmful effects.

Though we have secured incredible victories over the years, like raising the minimum wage for all workers, ensuring all children in Oregon have access to health care, and becoming the largest Latinx organization in the state, the political and cultural landscape has changed drastically, and we’re stepping up to face those changes head-on. Every day brings with it an urgent political or cultural challenge to address, and each new challenge highlights just how critical our advocacy and organizing work is.

    Position Overview

Field Organizers will help carry out PCUN’s electoral field program for the 2026 election cycle, from August through November. This role will focus on supporting a diverse, progressive slate of candidates across the Mid-Willamette Valley as part of our broader work to build power, advance equity, and strengthen representation for our communities.

A core part of this position is building authentic relationships with PCUN’s base, including farmworkers, working-class families, union members, supporters, and volunteers. Field Organizers will help engage and mobilize our community in key campaigns while developing grassroots leadership and deepening participation in the political process.

    Job Responsibilities:

    Voter Outreach:

    • Participate in phone banking, canvassing, mass texting drives, and other outreach tactics to mobilize voters.
    • Attend at least five weekly field canvases to support and strengthen PCUN’s voter engagement efforts.

    Community Engagement & Leadership Development:

    • Build genuine relationships with PCUN members, volunteers, and supporters.
    • Provide general support to advance PCUN’s mission, priorities, and broader initiatives, including community events, advocacy campaigns, and membership development.

    Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

    • Passionate about farmworker and immigrant rights, and social justice.
    • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
    • Cultural competency with a strong understanding of Oregon’s Latinx community.
    • Experience leading/coordinating/working on political campaigns.
