    Position Summary

    The Volunteer & Operations Coordinator is a people-centered role focused on volunteer engagement, community relationships, and grocery rescue partnership stewardship. This position serves as a bridge between Renewal Food Bank’s daily operations and community presence by coordinating volunteers, maintaining strong relationships with food rescue partners, supporting outreach efforts, and helping ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

    The ideal candidate is outgoing, organized, adaptable, and energized by building meaningful relationships that strengthen Renewal Food Bank’s mission and impact.

    Key Responsibilities

    Volunteer Coordination

    • Coordinate volunteer scheduling, onboarding, training, and placement across food bank operations.
    • Develop a strong understanding of operational workflows to effectively support volunteer deployment.
    • Maintain volunteer records, track hours, and support volunteer communication and appreciation efforts.
    • Foster a welcoming, mission-driven volunteer experience that encourages long-term engagement and retention.
    • Coordinate corporate and community volunteer groups in partnership with organizational leadership.

    Grocery Partner Stewardship

    • Serve as the primary relationship manager for existing grocery rescue partners.
    • Conduct regular partner check-ins to maintain smooth food rescue logistics and strong communication.
    • Coordinate partner appreciation efforts including visits, handwritten notes, recognition opportunities, and stewardship communications.
    • Identify opportunities to strengthen existing grocery rescue partnerships and improve operational coordination.
    • Represent Renewal Food Bank professionally in all external partner interactions.

    Operations Support

    • Assist Operations leadership with volunteer reporting, partnership tracking, and operational data entry.
    • Support coordination of food ordering logistics and inventory communication.
    • Maintain accurate records within internal systems and CRM platforms.
    • Identify and communicate operational challenges and improvement opportunities.
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    Required

    • 2–4 years of experience in volunteer coordination, nonprofit operations, community engagement, or related work.
    • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
    • Comfort working in operational and warehouse-adjacent environments.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
    • Willingness to learn and utilize CRM systems including Little Green Light.

    Preferred

    • Experience in hunger relief, nonprofit operations, or volunteer management.
    • Experience coordinating community or corporate volunteer groups.
    • Bilingual skills are a plus.
