    Summary

    Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area is seeking a Corporate Relations & Sponsorship Officer to join our chapter as part of the Corporate Development team. The Corporate Relations & Sponsorship Officer reports to our Director of Corporate Development and is responsible for fundraising with existing corporate partners, as well as developing and maintaining new corporate partnerships through a variety of programs (event sponsors, general fundraising promotions, employee-driven events, cause-related marketing, auction donations, etc.) The successful candidate is passionate about our mission, is a team player, enjoys building and maintaining relationships, and is a creative self-starter that will take the initiative to get the job done. This full-time, exempt position is currently required to work in our Oakland office at least two days a week (Tuesday and Wednesday) as part of our hybrid work model.

    Compensation: $72,000 – $77,000 based on skills and experience

    Make-A-Wish® Greater Bay Area is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that fulfills the wishes of children between the ages of 2-1/2 and 18 who have critical illnesses. Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area was founded in 1984 and has fulfilled the wishes of more than 10,000 children in its 42-year history. The Greater Bay Area chapter is headquartered in Oakland and serves 17 Northern California counties, from Monterey County to the Oregon border.

    Responsibilities

    Corporate Partnerships & Portfolio Management

    • Partner with Corporate and overall Development teams to plan and execute strategies for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of corporate partnerships in support of annual revenue goals.
    • Prospect, cultivate, and secure new corporate partners and donors.
    • Manage a portfolio of 80+ corporate donors and prospects across all stages of the giving cycle, from identification through stewardship.
    • Develop and implement annual partnership plans focused on increasing revenue and deepening engagement.
    • Write and present tailored proposals and sponsorship opportunities; negotiate terms, draft agreements, and close gifts.
    • Partner with Corporate team to develop and implement cause marketing campaigns with local and regional partners.
    • Collaborate with Make-A-Wish America and Make-A-Wish chapter partners on corporate initiatives and cause marketing campaigns.
    • Ensure all partnerships align with Make-A-Wish standards and collaborate with Marketing team on communications and visibility.
    • Manage full cycle of select corporate grants, including applications, reporting, and stewardship.
    • Maintain accurate and timely records in Salesforce, including contact reports and donor insights.
    • Support and grow workplace giving and corporate matching gift programs.

    Event Sponsorship

    • Collaborate with Marketing, Events, and Development teams to create effective sponsorship materials and outreach strategies.
    • Prospect for, identify, secure, and retain event sponsors for key events.
    • Partner with the Events team to align sponsorship strategy with event planning and execution.
    • Ensure delivery of all sponsorship benefits, including recognition, activation, and stewardship.
    • Manage relationships with assigned sponsors, facilitate renewals, and pursue new opportunities.

    Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support

    • Work cross-functionally to align corporate partnerships with marketing, events, fundraising, and stewardship efforts.
    • Collaborate across teams to ensure effective recognition and engagement of partners.
    • Work with mission delivery team on identifying, securing, and stewarding in kind donors for wish-granting.

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Manage a small portfolio of individual donors, including key contacts tied to corporate partners.
    • Provide support for advisory councils, board committees, and special projects as needed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    • Office-based role requiring extended computer use; event support may involve standing and movement for longer periods.
    • May require travel within a 17-county region as needed.

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
    • 4–6 years of experience in corporate partnerships, nonprofit development, or sponsorship sales; nonprofit experience preferred.
    • Proven success closing five- to six-figure gifts or sponsorships.
    • Strong understanding of corporate philanthropy, sponsorships, and cause marketing; sales experience a plus.

    Skills & Competencies

    • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a professional and customer-focused approach.
    • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and follow through.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft 365; experience with Salesforce or similar CRM systems preferred.
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends in support of events.
