    Description

    The Director of Community Engagement

The Director of Community Engagement is responsible for building and sustaining meaningful relationships between Essential Access Health and the communities it serves, while ensuring community-informed perspectives are integrated across the organization’s work rather than siloed within a single department. This role serves as the organizational lead for community engagement practice, ensuring community voices authentically inform program design, service delivery, research, evaluation, and strategic decision-making.

The Director oversees Essential Access Health's Community Advisory Council and key youth-focused engagement initiatives, including Teen Source, Teen Source Tips, and the Youth Advisory Board, while supporting the organization’s broader evolution toward population-informed community engagement strategies.

    KEY DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Provide strategic oversight and day-to-day management of the Community Advisory Council (CAC), including member recruitment, onboarding, and retention
      • Continuously identify opportunities to deepen and expand how the organization engages priority populations across its programs and initiatives
      • Cultivate and maintain trust-based relationships with community members, partner organizations, and key stakeholders
      • Manage the community engagement-related budgets, grants, and contracts in alignment with organizational priorities and funding requirements
      • Supervise and support community engagement staff, establishing clear priorities, coordination, and opportunities for professional growth as the team structure evolves.
      • Guide the continued evolution of community engagement efforts from a primarily youth-focused function toward broader, population-informed engagement strategies while maintaining continuity and support for existing programs

    QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job.

    • Deep commitment to equity, inclusion, and community-led approaches
    • Exceptional interpersonal, facilitation, and communication skills — including with diverse populations and senior leadership
