Lawyers for Civil Rights (LCR) works with people of color, immigrants, and low-income communities to fight discrimination, foster equity, and pursue justice through creative and courageous legal advocacy, education, and economic empowerment. In partnership with law firms and community allies, we provide free, life-changing legal support to individuals, families, and small businesses.
The vibe at LCR is bold, courageous, creative, and relentless. We are a rapid-response team that quickly mobilizes to tackle pressing problems, ensuring that those in need receive immediate and impactful legal assistance. We also believe in the power of partnership, working with organizations that share our commitment to justice. Embracing our unique approach, we are passionate about empowering individuals and communities through the law.
LCR’s BizGrow Project contributes to the economic growth of low-income communities by helping individuals to achieve economic self-sufficiency, and to develop sustainable businesses through free legal and business support to entrepreneurs with big dreams and limited resources.
LCR is excited to announce the creation of BizGrow Central, a collaborative space where new and established small business owners will be able to learn together, access vital resources, and develop the skills and resilience they need to thrive.
Centrally located in downtown Boston and set to open in 2026, BizGrow Central will be housed in space that is within, but separate from, LCR’s main office. It will offer a range of programs and services—from legal advice and mentorship to networking opportunities—in a welcoming space designed to meet business owners’ needs. We are giving small business owners the time, space, and tools to realize their dreams.
