    Development Associate at One On One

    About One On One

    DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE: Opportunity for professional growth and career enhancement for development, communications, and non-profit professionals at the early stages of their careers. Join the development team of One On One, a growing workforce development nonprofit on the South Side of Chicago.

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

    DEVELOPMENT RESPONSIBILITIES (80%)

    • Direct Appeal/Annual Giving: assist the Director of Development in drafting of mailed and emailed appeals, including pulling lists, address verifications, maintaining data integrity, , setting up and sending e-blasts, and tagging and logging contacts
    • Stewardship: work with the Director of Development to engage with donors, manage

    commitments in all cases to respond to donor requests within 48 hours.

    • Grants: work with and support the efforts of the organization’s grant writing process, maintain grants schedule and ensure development department management of grant deadlines
    • Special Events: assist the Director of Development with the execution of any community, internal, or external events (3-5 small events a year)
    • Gift Processing: processing of gifts/contributions is a primary responsibility of the Development Associate position, from overseeing cash receipts to Salesforce data entry function to data quality control
    • Donor Communications: manage donor communications for Development Director and Executive Director and schedule meetings for donors and partners on their behalf
    • Conduct outreach for annual donors who give $1,000 or less to the organization
    • Prospect Research: find new individual, corporate, and institutional fundraising opportunities through lead building and partnerships
    • Prepare donor prospect research profiles, screen new contacts for their giving capacity, and support the Development team’s ability to cultivate new prospects effectively

    ADDITIONAL COMMUNICATIONS RESPONSIBILITIES (20%)

    • Website: manage blog postings and event registration pages, maintain mailing lists and front page of website, develop and post new active and engaging content on social media, update existing content, troubleshoot technical issues, update graphics, renew and update domain registrations
    • Email Blasts: issue all blast emails including newsletters, event invitations, and fundraising appeals and track and report email blasts, opens/click throughs, social media stats, and website traffic
    • Program Awareness: attend major events with the programs team and take photos, provide recaps, and communicate knowledgeably about programmatic activities with the public

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree required
    • Creative thinker with a distinctive voice
    • Strong writing, project, and time management skills
    • Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to find new leads, ideas, and fundraising opportunities independently
    • Excellent proofreading skills with exceptional attention to detail
    • Strong people skills to enable the associate to interact with donors, board members, and community partners
    • Experience building and maintaining a robust follower base across all major social media platforms
    • A minimum of three years of development and/or communications experience in the non-profit sector is desirable
    • Adept in Google Suite and Salesforce database. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

    DETAILS:

    One On One offers an exciting opportunity to a nonprofit professional. This hybrid position reports directly to the Director of Development. One On One offers generous time off including 11 paid holidays, 2 floating holidays, and an all office paid closure from December 24th - January 1st, employer-sponsored medical and dental insurance, and 401(K) options with a 3% employer match subject to vesting schedule.

    This is a full-time exempt position and is hybrid, with offices located at 4655 S King Drive, Suite 202, Chicago, IL 60653.

    COMPENSATION: the salary range for this position is $55,000-$60,000.
