    Description

About the Partnership for Los Angeles Schools

Launched in 2007, the Partnership for Los Angeles Schools’ mission is to transform schools to revolutionize school systems, empowering all students with a high-quality education. The Partnership is a non-profit, in-district partner to LA Unified, not a charter network. As an independent nonprofit organization, the Partnership serves 13,550 students across 20 LA Unified schools in Boyle Heights, South Los Angeles, and Watts. The Partnership works within the LA Unified School District context, which includes honoring all collective bargaining agreements for its teachers and school staff. To learn more about the Partnership, our mission, and how we approach our goals, please visit our website.

    Context

The Partnership for Los Angeles Schools is deepening its work to support Black and emergent bilingual students, in alignment with our 2030 strategic plan.

The Partnership is looking for a consultant to support the design and implementation of a year-long learning arc that integrates racial equity mindset development with practical implementation strategies, while also building internal capacity for leading this work, making data-driven decisions, and partnering with teams across the organization to amplify impact.

    Project Outcomes & Deliverables

Over the course of a year, the consultant will partner with the Sr. Director of Black & Emergent Bilingual (EB) Student Success to accomplish the following:

    • Learning Arc Design: Design and support the implementation of a comprehensive learning arc that balances shifts in mindsets and beliefs about racial equity, identity, and narrative change, with practical and actionable strategies, ensuring the work translates into meaningful impact.
    • Thought Partnership: Act as a strategic advisor to the Sr. Director to problem-solve, prioritize, and ensure the work is balanced across depth of learning, pace of implementation, and readiness.
    • Data-Driven Decisions: In partnership with the Sr. Director, establish routines and protocols that regularly elevate and synthesize multiple forms of data, such as academic outcomes, attendance data, behavioral data, observation data, and “street data” (student experiences, narratives, and lived realities), to deepen understanding of the Black student experience and inform priorities, strategy, and action.
    • Leadership Capacity-Building: Coach the Sr. Director in a way that strengthens their ability to lead, facilitate, and sustain this work over time, gradually phasing out the need for external support as the contract goes on.

We expect the consultant to provide approximately 50 hours of direct support, plus additional work time, from April 2026 through June 2027. We have budgeted $20,000-$30,000 for this work.

    RFP Requirements & Submission

Proposals for consultants should include the following:

    • Clear articulation of your racial equity framework and how it informs your practice
    • A high-level arc that shows how you would sequence the year, including how you would approach data routines and build internal leadership capacity
    • Budget narrative that reflects the scope and depth of the engagement
    • While not required in the proposal, final candidates should be prepared to provide 2 references from comparable engagements, ideally in K-12 or similar mission-driven contexts

Proposals are due by April 24, 2026. Applicants should submit their materials to Myeisha Phillips, Sr. Director of Black & EB Student Success (myeisha.phillips@partnershipla.org). Please reach out for technical assistance or assistance with applying with a disability.
