    Overview

    Terminus Modern Ballet Theatre (TMBT) seeks an experienced, relationship-driven Development Director to lead the organization's fundraising strategy and advance its mission through philanthropic support. This part-time contract position offers an exciting opportunity to build upon the company’s strong reputation during its tenth anniversary season and help shape the future for the next decade to come.

    Working closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and key staff, the Development Director will help develop a comprehensive fundraising program that includes annual giving, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, foundation and government grants, donor stewardship, special events, and capital campaign initiatives. The Development Director reports to the Executive Director.

    Responsibilities

    Fundraising Leadership

    • Develop and implement an annual fundraising plan with measurable goals and benchmarks.
    • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual, corporate, foundation, and community donors.
    • Manage a comprehensive donor pipeline from prospect identification through stewardship.
    • Partner with the Executive Director and Board on major gift cultivation and solicitation.
    • Oversee donor recognition, benefit fulfillment, and stewardship activities.
    • Maintain accurate donor records and reporting within the organization's CRM.
    • Plan and oversee fundraising campaigns and special events, including the Annual Terminus Féte in partnership with the Féte Committee.

    Grant Management

    • Oversee the organization's grants program in partnership with contract grant writers and program staff.
    • Identify grant opportunities and ensure timely proposal and report submissions.

    Strategic Development

    • Develop long-range fundraising strategies aligned with organizational priorities.
    • Partner with the Executive Director and Board to strengthen board engagement in fundraising.
    • Prepare reports and fundraising metrics for Board and Development Committee meetings.
    • Monitor fundraising performance and recommend strategic adjustments.
    • Identify opportunities to diversify contributed revenue through individual giving, sponsorships, foundations, government support, and special campaigns.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
    • 3–5 years of progressively responsible nonprofit fundraising experience preferred; exceptional candidates with at least 2 years of demonstrated success will be considered.
    • Demonstrated success in donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
    • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills.
    • Experience with donor CRM systems and fundraising reporting.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, board members, volunteers, and community partners.
    • Passion for the performing arts and arts education.

    Work Schedule

    This is a part-time contract position, working an approximate average of 20 hours/week requiring flexible hours to accommodate meetings and occasional off hour fundraising events. On average 2-3 days a week in person, specific scheduling may be determined in collaboration with organizational leadership.

    Compensation

    Compensation is hourly, ranging between $38/hr and $44/hr, and will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
