Shared Program Manager - Environmental Education and Community Engagement

The Opportunity

As Program Manager, you will work closely with the leadership of Painted Bins www.paintedbins.org and Resilient Neighborhoods www.resilientneighborhoods.orgto keep programs and projects organized, moving forward, and aligned with strategic priorities.

This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys managing multiple projects, working with a wide range of people, improving systems, and turning ideas into action. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to two growing environmental programs and see the direct impact of your work throughout Marin County.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage multiple programs and projects from planning through implementation.
• Coordinate educational programs, community outreach, art shows, volunteer activities, and fundraising events.
• Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, workflows, and organizational systems using Monday.com and related platforms.
• Recruit, coordinate, and support volunteers.
• Build and maintain relationships with schools, community organizations, businesses, volunteers, and other partners.
• Track program outcomes, maintain databases, and analyze information to help measure impact.
• Identify opportunities to improve organizational systems and administrative processes.
• Support strategic initiatives that strengthen and expand environmental education and climate action programs.
• Balance priorities across two collaborative organizations while maintaining strong communication and attention to detail.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 2–5 years of experience in program management, project management, nonprofit administration, education, community engagement, or a related field.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and online software platforms or databases.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for local meetings and events.

Especially Helpful

• Experience or interest in sustainability, climate action, environmental education, or community-based programs.
• Experience working with schools, volunteers, community organizations, or nonprofit programs.
• Familiarity with Monday.com or similar project-management platforms.
• A collaborative, flexible approach and enthusiasm for working in a small, mission-driven organization.
• Spanish bilingual

Position Requirements

This is a hybrid position combining remote work with in-person meetings, school and community activities, and events throughout Marin County. Occasional evening and weekend work and lifting of up to 30 pounds are required.
