    About Patient Forward

    Patient Forward (PF) is a national advocacy and strategy organization working to eliminate barriers to later abortion care and ensure that everyone can access the healthcare they need, when they need it. We educate the public about complex and adverse pregnancy outcomes, elevate patient experiences, and advance policies that support bodily autonomy and access to care without arbitrary time limits.

    As we enter a new phase of organizational growth, we are seeking an Operations Manager to help build the systems, processes, and culture that will support our mission and team for years to come.

    Position Summary

    The Operations Manager will oversee day-to-day organizational operations, project management, people operations, finance administration, and organizational planning. They will work closely with leadership to strengthen infrastructure, improve internal coordination, and help navigate growth and change.

    This role is a key member of Patient Forward's small but mighty team and will serve as the organization's internal operations lead. This role is responsible for ensuring that our people, systems, and processes are aligned to support effective, sustainable, and values-driven work. Patient Forward is a fiscally sponsored project of NEO Philanthropy.

    This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building systems, creating clarity, supporting teams, and translating big-picture goals into effective organizational practices. The right candidate will thrive in a small, growing organization where flexibility, initiative, and a willingness to adapt to evolving organizational needs are essential.

    Key Responsibilities

    Organizational Operations & Strategy

    • Build and own the operational infrastructure that allows a lean team to scale without losing coordination or culture
    • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and documentation and help ensure coordination and compliance with our fiscal sponsor
    • Support annual planning, goal setting, and organizational performance tracking
    • Ensure Patient Forward's internal systems and practices embody our values and enable mission-aligned decision-making
    • Increase organizational effectiveness by improving systems for communication, collaboration, and decision-making

    Project Management

    • Support implementation of strategic priorities and specific projects
    • Maintain project plans, timelines, materials, and accountability systems
    • Coordinate scheduling and collaboration among staff, consultants, and partners
    • Create accountability systems that give leadership real-time visibility into priorities
    • Provide the coordination and structure needed for collaborative projects to achieve their goals

    People Operations

    • Lead recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and offboarding processes
    • Support performance management and professional development processes
    • Coordinate with fiscal sponsor to manage employee benefits administration and related vendor relationships
    • Help cultivate a healthy, inclusive, and mission-aligned organizational culture

    Finance & Administration

    • Coordinate with fiscal sponsor regarding all financial activity
    • Support budgeting, financial tracking, and reporting processes
    • Manage contracts, vendor relationships, and administrative systems
    • Ensure organizational compliance with relevant fiscal sponsor policies and reporting requirements

    Qualifications

    Required

    • 5+ years of operations, project management, nonprofit management, or related experience
    • Strong organizational and project management skills
    • Experience developing and improving systems and processes
    • Experience supporting hiring, people operations, or human resources functions
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a remote environment
    • Enthusiasm for pitching in wherever needed on a small team
    • Commitment to Patient Forward's mission and values

    The Ideal Candidate

    • Experience in nonprofit organizations, advocacy organizations, or social justice movements
    • Familiarity with budgeting
    • Experience with fiscal sponsorship
    • Experience supporting organizations through periods of growth, transition, or change
    • Experience working in reproductive health, reproductive justice, healthcare, or related fields

    The Program Operations Manager is employed by Patient Forward’s fiscal sponsor, NEO Philanthropy.
